Goodsearch: A Brilliant Way to Give to Charity Without Using Cash

Kerry Mulherin
There are literally hundreds of thousands of non-profit organizations who just can't make ends meet and be financially able to conduct the research needed to help those suffering from kidney disease, heart disease, cancer, MS, homelessness and hunger.

Looking at homeless figures for a second; in just one small area of LA alone, there are more than 10,000 people living in filth, on the streets, under bridges without even the basics of fresh water and warmth. These people are just like you and I, some with children by their side, forgotten war veterans, the mentally ill who either have no family, or have been reported missing; the list is endless.

While searching the net I was really excited to come across the most awesome idea for fund raising I have seen to date. All charities have various ways to raise money, but one does not always have cash to give.

So what is the solution?

A brilliant organization known as Goodsearch was founded by two brothers after losing their mother to illness. One of these men was founder of a large organization now known as Monster.com, while the other was an MSNBC anchor. They have been featured on national television and newspapers including The Wall Street Journal and Oprah. GoodSearch is an innovative revenue raising idea which every one of us online can use for free to send money to our favorite cause.

Tell Me More:

It involves using GoodSearch to do exactly that, search. Whether you're looking for a pair of socks, schoolbooks for the kids or a shiny new Ferrari, use GoodSearch to locate anything you want and half of their revenue from advertisers goes to the charity you have designated to help. You can help one charity or many. Look on the list and see who you'd like to help out, make your selection and simply go through your work day or leisure time online as you would normally do. It's that simple.

Passionate about the environment? Look for a green organization. Want to save a whale? Feed hungry kids? Donate a cow to a family in Somalia?

What Else Can You Do To Help?

Why not ask your boss if he/she will install GoodSearch toolbars on the office computers? Or, if that isn't an option, using a GoodSearch email signature can help let everyone know about it in all outbound correspondence.

GoodSearch also has a Mall called GoodShop. When you shop there, a portion of the proceeds goes right to your charity. There are tools to let your friends and family know how you're helping so they can help too. Download the toolbar or just post a logo on your MySpace page, there are many options. Spreading the word is the most important key. The more people who know about GoodSearch, the more people there are supporting these charities. There are currently over 50,000 non profit organizations registered with GoodSearch who need your assistance and hundreds more are applying to join every day.

So pay it forward, go to GoodSearch today and help someone who needs you.

That is really nifty. I usually feel terrible because I can't give to everyone that I want to give to, but this is a great way to help out.
