Goody Ouchless Detangling Shower Comb Review

The Pen
I was at a Walgreen's near my home browsing through the hair care aisle when I noticed they carried the Goody Ouchless Detangling Shower Combs. I have a kinky and very tightly curled hair texture that I've been wearing natural for the last year and a half.

I've found that detangling my thick strands has been my biggest hair issue, because it can literally take me hours to fully comb through it, so it always takes me awhile to style it. I use several different combs to detangle and style, but none of them have been particulary helpful, so I was skeptical that the Goody Ouchless Comb would make a huge difference.

But I noticed that a lot of fellow natural women recommended it, so I decided to try it. I bought the comb for $3.49. The Ouchless Detangling Comb that I purchased was a c-thru pale blue color. The comb has a rounded spine, but the teeth of the comb don't extend to it, like the teeth of a normal comb would. There's actually another thinner spine 1/4" below the main one that's more flexible and hold the teeth.

The teeth of the Goody comb are fairly short and wide, and instead of being pointed, the tips of the teeth are even from the spine to the base, and the ends are squared off. The handle of this Ouchless Detangling Shower Comb is thin and long, and the end of it curves into a hook that can be hung from the shower head.

The Goody Ouchless detangler is meant to spread conditioner throughout wet hair. Goody claims the comb has a "flexible spine to eliminate hari breakage" and grooved teeth to "gently distribute conditioner."

I forgot to take the conditioning comb into the shower with me, so I didn't use it to distribute conditioner, only to detangle my wet hair after it was rinsed. My hair had been in tiny twists before I washed it, so it was quite tangled, but this Goody comb amazingly glided through the big tangles easily, with one or two strokes, even when I combed at the roots first.

I normally don't lose too much hair with any of the combs I use, so I didn't notice a huge difference with hair breakage, with the Goody Ouchless. The major difference I noticed was that it made combing through my thick hair faster, and it because it's flexible, it really reduced the pain of combing through tangles.

In the End...

I should've bought this comb a long time ago, it's one of the best products I could've used on my natural hair. It's cut my styling time in almost half because it doesn't take hours to get out tangles. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to anyone with long or medium length hair, especially thick, tightly curled textures like mine.
