Goody's Thick Ouchless Elastics- Hair Accessory Review

Lisa White ISSA & AFPA CPT
On average I spend four or five dollars every couple of months on Goody's Thick Ouchless Elastics because I have a tremendous amount of hair and Goody's makes a product that will contain it. I tend to need specific types of hair accessories because the average elastic hair products are not large or strong enough to hold my hair in place. Besides the fact that my hair is very thick and extremely long from root to tip it is very heavy which makes pulling it back an issue if the hair accessory isn't strong enough.

Over the years I've tried countless hair accessories from long banana clips, spider clips, braided bands and bands with metal and plastic balls. If it was ever created; I've tried it so when Goody's began producing the thick ouchless elastics I could not have been more happy. I saw it as an accessory that I could really use to keep my hair out of my face and an item that would be able to contain all of my hair.

Goody's Ouchless Hair Product

Although the elastics come in an assortment of colors I usually choose black. The large elastics are at least a quarter of an inch thick and three inches in diameter. They do not have any sort of metal clasp so there is no fear that it will tear, rip or pull my hair out. The outer portion of the elastic ponytail holder is smooth so there's no concern of my hair being the unfortunate subject of the inner rubber material.

My Experience With The Product

My many purchases of Goody's Ouchless Thick Elastic ponytail holders have led to very mixed feelings on the product. The thickness of the elastic works well on my hair. It stretches just enough to wrap around my hair three times but I have certainly found a quality flaw with the elastics. The larger elastics have a tendency to snap where the actual inner rubber band is connected. As a matter of fact, the elastic has broken on as many as half of the pack and that was during the first use. While pulling my pony tail through the elastic it would snap and pull apart at the connecting site.

There were also several elastics that became overly stretched within the first couple of uses and could not be worn. The rubber that was hanging out of the threaded covering allowed hair to be grabbed and pulled. Once the band is stretched with the addition of that excess material it changes the dimensions of the elastic, as well. The new dimensions changed the way the elastic fit around my hair.

Would I Buy It Again?

To be honest; I would buy the product again but not because of the quality. I would buy the Goody's elastics because it's the only elastic large enough to hold my hair. I'll just have to take the chance that it won't break but I could not give this product a rating higher than two out of five stars.
