Google +1 Button, a New Addition to the Social Networking Family

You might have noticed lately as you've been surfing around net that there is a new little feature that's recently been added to Google. Google has created what they call a "+1 button" for people to have to ability of giving the thumbs up to a link they discovered, or even created. This small button has actually just made searching Google even easier and more convenient. It can let you know if a particular link has been recommended by someone in your social network and how many people recommended it. This can certainly come in handy when you might be searching for a service to use, a product or movie review, or even a great new article or blog post.

To simplify the Google +1 button solution, it's basically Google's response/competition to the Facebook "like" button. Both tools have the ability of showing how many people liked a particular link and who liked it (if they were in your network or contacts). The big question is who will win this one?

As the Internet continues to grow into a bigger compilation of popularity contests between websites, articles, blogs and shopping carts, it's great that Google went ahead and created a way for people to spend less time on reviewing and more time viewing what's already be reviewed and recommended.

The biggest question people probably have right now is of course "How can I get one of those on my link?" Most are probably assuming its hours of coding and you'll need to go find a knowledgeable web developer to make it happen. Thankfully, Google has provided the code for anyone to copy and paste right into the html of their website. It couldn't be simpler, unless it was just there automatically like on Facebook --

Once you have your new +1 button, make sure all of your contacts are connected to you through Google and be the first click of recommendation.

It's always good news when you hear of one more way to expand your wings over the Internet. Social Networking is the key to modern online advertising, and Google just gave every site one more tool to throw in their tool box. While all social networks compete against each other, it's nice to keep finding additional ways to promote whatever you are trying to promote within the social media's competitive edge.
