Google Body Browser Maps Human Anatomy

Jeffrey Weeks
Google has released the new Google Body Browser which shows a detailed 3D model of the human body in Google Chrome web browser beta. Google users can view the human body's anatomy through anatomical layers, then zoom in and navigate to explore body parts.

The hope is that the new Google Body Browser will not just be a neat tool but will help in the medical education environment.

Body Browser is supported only by browsers featuring WebGL support. WebGL is the cross-platform web standard for low-level 3D Graphics.

Google Software engineers are using the HTML5 web standard with the WebGL support built-in so that the browser doesn't require additional Flash, Java or any other graphics plugin to be loaded. It is hoped in the future the Google Body Browser will be supported in Firefox and other browsers.

The Google Body Browser experimental feature lets you identify whether you wish to explore male or female anatomy. Users can click and zoom in to different anatomical layers to see the finite details.
