Google Celebrates John Lennon's Birthday, Not Death and Photo of Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe is Released

Although search engines are lighting up with the term "John Lennon's death" due to Google's tribute to the late musician, that's not actually what the hubbub is all about. October 9th would have been the famous singer's 70th birthday. Lennon was shot outside his New York apartment on December 8th, 1980 by Mark David Chapman.

The Google tribute is a beautifully drawn animation set to Lennon's "Imagine." Google "Doodler" Mike Dutton wrote on the Official Google Blog,

"Starting today and all day tomorrow, which would have been John's 70th birthday, we're celebrating him with our first-ever animated video doodle. The old saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words" still rings true, so I hope a moving picture will help me adequately-and simply-thank John for the memories."

Michelle Williams Becomes Marilyn Monroe

As we look back at popular celebrity icons, it only seems fitting to discuss actress Michelle Williams' recent foray into the past with her film My Week With Marilyn. The film, which follows a 23-year-old Oxford student who befriended Marilyn Monroe on set, stars Williams as the Hollywood icon and the first picture of her as the actress has been released.

Truly, the casting directors couldn't have picked a better actress to portray Marilyn. Williams has already proved that she is an incredible actress, but in the picture, she definitely embodies the spirit of the actress in looks and posture. Wearing a thin tan robe, Williams barely rests her face against her hands in a wistful pose, brown eyes gazing past the camera in true Marilyn fashion.

Johnny Depp Proves Why Fans Love Him

It's a classic story most every child goes through. A child has an idol, whether it's a musician, actor or artist, and one fateful day, he/she decides to send them a letter telling them how much he/she likes them. Most of these letters never get a response. But if you're Johnny Depp, you send a reply. . .or pay a visit to the sender. According to The London Daily Mail, the actor arrived at a British school in full Jack Sparrow gear because a young student wrote him a letter in an effort to "stage a rebellion against the teachers." The note read,

"Captain Jack Sparrow: At Meridian Primary School, we are all a bunch of budding young pirates. Normally, we're a right handful, but we're having a bit of trouble mutinying against the teachers. We'd love if you could come and help -- Beatrice Delap, aged 9, a budding pirate. P.S. We have a plentiful supply of rum."

Depp visited with the children and with Beatrice, telling her he was going to frame the letter. He also said that the pirates were going to take over the school, but that the students shouldn't mutiny against the teachers since the police were outside and they could get in trouble.
