Google Chrome: A New Captain in the Browser Wars

I am sure that you all have heard about the new google chrome browser. In case you haven't used it keep reading because I have used it for you and I will highlight the new all features from A-Z of this browser in the following article.

Google's approach was to analyze the technology of today and reshape it in a new way. They gave less attention to the design but tried to makes it easier, faster, safer and reliable.

Google Chrome Features:

Here are some of the features of this browser that I would like to point out to my users:

1. Multiple Processes: Each tab in the browser serves as a separate process with in the chrome, like the programs within the operating system. This may come in handy if a tab freezes or crashes. In such a case the frozen tab will not affect any of the other tabs.

2. New tab Page: Every time you open a new tab you will see visual samples of the most visited sites; most used search engines and recently bookmarked pages and closed tabs. With one click you can go to the websites that you visit on regular basis.

3. Task manager: Chrome comes bundled with its own task manager which can be opened by the combining Shift+Esc. The task manager shows the running tabs and plugins and if a process is taking too much memory , you can close it right away.

4. Webkit: Google applied the rendering engine Webkit (safari), which is faster, rather than Gecko (Mozilla).

5. Dynamic Tabs: You can drag out the tabs from the browser to make a new window, gather multiple in a separate window or arrange tabs in any order as you like them.

6. Incognito mode: This is a very useful feature. The webpages that you have opened or the files that you have downloaded while you are in Incognito mode will not be saved in the browser history. You can browse normally at the same time by opening separate window.

7. Omnibox: When you type into the box, it will show results based on the previous sites that you have visited or what's more popular on google.

8. Import Settings: When you switch to google chrome from your existing browser you can import the settings of your existing browser including the bookmarks and passwords.

9. Simpler Downloads: No need of download managers, you will see the bookmarks the status of your download at the bottom of the current window.

Issues:

Though it is a good browser, it also comes with its own flaws. Like apple's safari chrome is also based on Webkit. While safari was provided with the latest version of Webkit in June, chrome is still using the previous version. In Chrome there is no way to turn off the JavaScript. Since, however, this is for the first time that google has introduced a browser in the market, so, we can hope that these flaws will soon be removed.

Conclusion:

After all that I would recommend that you try chrome. Its cool, it's different, it's easy. Try it and have a taste for yourself of what the people are talking about. But, don't switch it write now and wait till a new and better version comes out.
