Google Chrome: A Review

Jeremy Ross
Google Chrome is Google's version of an internet browser. Some people do not think there are many differences between internet browsers. They are wrong. There are sometimes small differences and sometimes huge differences.

The first thing that someone will notice about Google Chrome is the simplistic nature, look, and feel. All of the clutter that other internet browsers have is not there. Most internet browsers have many buttons along the top of the page, but Chrome is not like this. In fact, the tabs are the primary elements of the top of the page.

Speaking of tabs, each tab is independent of one another. In a non Chrome browser, if many tabs are open and one tab is not responding, the entire internet browser must be restarted. However, with Google Chrome this is not the case. Since each tab is independent, if one tab crashes, the others that are opened are left unharmed.

Many internet browsers have tabs that can be reordered. Google Chrome can do this too. But, only Chrome can take an existing tab and create a new window of just that tab with a simple click and drag. Apple's Safari can actually do this, but it is much more difficult to do in Safari than in Chrome.

Speed is an issue that many people care about regarding their internet connection. Since Chrome is so simplistic and not cluttered, it is extremely efficient and fast. Pages usually load much faster on Chrome than any other browser currently out there.

Google has made it so one can perform a Google search just by entering text in the URL. This may seems simple and not that great, but I really love this feature. It makes performing queries easier, which I never thought was really possible.

It is easier to bookmark in Google Chrome than in most browsers. Most browsers require you to use a few mouse clicks. It is as simple as 1, 2, 3 with Chrome. I was pleasantly surprised with this feature.

Chrome lacks some features that other internet browsers have that many regard as important. The main complains of Chrome are: it is harder to manage bookmarks and it is not possible to email from the browser. These are legitimate complaints that I bet Google will fix soon.

Google Chrome is still in its Beta Version and it is already at the top of its class. It may not have all the perks that other browsers have, but I am positive it will soon be regarded as the best. Look for the newest version of Google Chrome to have new and improved features that will surely be enjoyed.
