Why did Google create Chrome?

Chrome is an web browser designed by Google released in beta in September of 2008. To many tech-savvy followers it came as a shock. Practically no one was aware that Google was even creating a web browser until about a week before its public release. Just a decade ago, Google was nonexistent; now, they are one of the most recognized companies in America. The company started their success with a new methodology for search engines. Thereafter, Google began diversifying its product selection with web applications. Now, Google has taken the next step by moving from the web into your desktop. Google Chrome seemed like the next evolutionary progression for Google.

Unique Features of Chrome:

Independently executable tabs - Chrome is the first web browser to make each tab independent from one another so if a tab crashed that tab would close out and not the entire browser.

One search bar - Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox have two searching bars. One is the web address bar and the other is the search engine bar. Users hate switching back and forth between these two bars so Google had the genius idea to integrate them into a single bar. As the user types a drop down menu appears giving options search the web or gives a direct URL to the website you are searching for.

JavaScript virtual machine - An important part of developing Google Chrome was creating a fast web browser. The JavaScript engine contained in Chrome has hidden class transitions, dynamic code generation, and precise garbage collection which make Google Chrome about twice as fast as its competitors on the same generation of software.
