Google Doesn't Know What Islam Is

If you went to the homepage of the All-Mighty Google search engine: http://www.google.com and typed in the following few phrases, the results might just surprise you. They did surprise me when I tried them out, after reading an article.

Type in "Christianity is", "Judaism is", "Hinduism is" and see what happens. Well, you guessed it. You see a list of popular searches that start with the phrases mentioned above. I do agree some of them are bitter and not very nice to see. But you do get a list of the most popular Google searches that start with those phrases. (Very sad that some of those phrases are just plain "bitter" and "disrespectful".)

Try this:Type in "Islam is" into the Google search engine homepage and wait to see what happens. Google's automatic-results pane is gone! No sign of it. There is no automatically populated list of popular searches that contain that phrase. Google the, "don't be evil" ,search engine, seems to be censoring its search results.

Per Google's Web site, the "popular" suggestions that appear in the list as you type, are drawn from--searches you've done (if you're logged in); searches done by worldwide users; sites in the search index and ads in Google's network.

In the article it says this: Google explains that "We try to filter out suggestions that include pornographic terms, dirty words, and hate and violence terms. If you encounter a term that should not be suggested, please let us know by posting in the Google Web Search Help Forum."

There are some search terms (I rather not say it here) that give highly derogatory and offensive 'auto-lists', which are still being displayed. So is Google being wise here or is Google just scared?

A Google spokesman explained this strange 'absense' of results as a bug they are trying to fix. But when asked for further clarification, they declined. Hmmm.. Ok Google I am not saying anything.

What is even weirder is that Google offers options to look at future-tense queries like "Christianity will". Type "Islam will" and see what happens. Google has some explaining to do..
