Nearly one thousand leaders of Colorado's advanced technology industry will gather for CSIA DEMOgala in Denver on October 11, at which Google Senior Executive Tim Armstrong will be the keynote speaker. The third annual event, which showcases technology demonstrations for several dozen of the thousands of local technology companies, will hold 20 programs, workshops and roundtables on various areas of innovation including education, business, entrepreneurial activities and trends, according to a news release from CSIA.

As keynote speaker of the conference, Tim Armstrong, Google President for Advertising and Commerce for North America, will share insights on innovation from "one of the most successful companies in the world," as CSIA president Su Hawk notes. Armstrong presides over Google advertising sales and operations in the influential North American market, while also having a role on the board of directors of several developing companies including Chairman of the Board of one in Denver, Associated Content, an innovative social media publisher, syndication engine and content showcase, featured with 53 other companies as key innovators featured at DEMOgala this year.

"Colorado's entrepreneurial climate is more significant than many imagine, so I'm proud to have been asked to give the keynote talk this year," CSIA quotes Armstrong as saying. "I'm pleased to be participating with CSIA to help promote the hundreds of Colorado technology leaders and companies, while sharing Google's story with state-wide leaders."

Armstrong follows Meg Whitman, CEO of eBay, and Jeffrey Rhoda, Vice President at IBM, who spoke at the CSIA event the previous two years. Many of the local companies showcased at the event over the past three years are nationally known, including satellite imaging company DigitalGlobe, Internet image hosting company Photobucket, Dish Network provider EchoStar and software development technology leader Rally Software Development. This year's featured companies include the CSU Robotics Team, MapQuest, Mocapay, Tensegrity Prosthetics, GolfTec and Associated Content.

CSIA's 2007 Chairman of the Board, John Oechsle, CIO and Senior Vice President of IHS, notes that "it is vitally important that CSIA serve as a portal to show off the great companies and innovation of Colorado, especially given that IT/software is fueling the growth of every industry in Colorado and the world." He shared his excitement at having an industry leader like Armstrong address the organization, indicating that he expects that "the shared ideas and insight will be enormously productive."

According to their news release, CSIA has been active in organizing, developing, and representing the Colorado software and IT industry in state government since 1994. The organization represents more than 750 technology companies directly, and over 3,000 IT Colorado IT companies benefit from CSIA's efforts.
