The city of Birmingham, Mich., recently submitted its entry to Google in the hopes of being one of 50,000 locations where an ultra high-speed broadband Internet network will be installed. The entry included facts about the city, such as its location, access to major freeways and the airport, and the county in which it is situated, as well as information on the five surrounding communities.
In addition, the entry includes support letters from the mayor, city manager, an Oakland County executive, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Principal Shopping District. The city hopes this information will convince Google that Birmingham is an ideal site for an ultra high-speed broadband network.
