Google G Mail is Now Open to the Public

There's some great news for those that are using paid for e-mail account providers. Internet giant Google is now offering their e-mail service called G Mail to the public. You can now go directly to Google and sign up. There is no need to have to get a referral from another G mail user anymore. Along with G Mail many other services will be available in one spot. This is truly good news. Best thing is that Google's G mail is absolutely free.

One of the great features of G mail is the enormous storage capacity that is given with each account. There is no need to ever delete any messages from your G Mail account. You can actually have thousands of e-mail messages in your account, and never have to worry about going over your allotted storage capacity. Google's G Mail account gives you over 2800 MB of storage. You can store loads of files and photos in one spot.

An interesting feature of Google's G mail is that you can forward e-mail from other accounts to your G mail account. Google calls this feature "Mail Fetcher". It is great to put all of your e-mails in one easy to find place. No more scrambling around from account to account and having to enter passwords for each. Google Mail Fetch allows you to have e-mail from five other accounts sent to your G mail account. Nice feature and free makes it even sweeter.

If you are going to be out of town for a while, and won't have computer access, Google has a neat feature that will respond to your e-mail messages. This feature is called a "Vacation Responder". You can have your G mail send your friends a message that says you are away from your computer and out-of-town. If you are still on vacation, you can activate this feature to respond after another four days.

Google also added a reply button on the top of the message. There is no more need to scroll all the way to the bottom of the message before you can reply. A nice little extra touch.

The folks at Google are also getting into chatting features. Video is also being offered in the mix. They are making it possible to get your messages over your cell phone. You can even send messages to groups of people all at once. Google scans messages for viruses also. G mail is great.

One feature that I have been using is called Google Page Creator. Page Creator allows you to have up to five web pages. This is a beta project for now, and may be discontinued at any time. Using the page creator is very easy to do. You don't need to know anything about web site creation. Just type in the information, click, and publish. You can get a nice looking little website up and on the Internet in a few minutes. They offer a bunch of attractive templates to individualize your particular site.
