Google OS Vs. Windows 7

Google is releasing the Google Chrome operating system which is an open source, lightweight operating system being developed by Google and targeted for availability in the second half of 2010. The Google Chrome operating system will most likely compete directly with Windows XP for netbooks and Microsoft's Windows 7. It is said that this release may impact Microsoft greatly especially if the businesses in the professional world embrace it as they did with Microsoft's Windows XP Professional.

Microsoft has dominated the computer operating scene for decades. During these trying economic times companies may be looking for a more user friendly and stable and free operating system. So the competition between the two major companies will be interesting to see and maybe quite beneficial to consumers as well. In fact this may be a dangerous and new obstacle for Microsoft in order to compete effectively with Google Inc. and their bold endeavors.

It is speculated that the Google Chrome operating system will not directly compete with Apple as it will initially target netbooks. Microsoft has been looking forward to the fall 2009 release of Windows 7, its successor to the not-well received Vista. Microsoft's chief software architect has stated that Windows 7 will not be their last dedicated computer operating system. Windows 7, formerly codenamed Blackcomb and Vienna will be out by the end of July of 2009 and will also focus more on web based applications, according to Microsoft.

This is a progressive stance for the way applications in the past have been traditionally utilized. Google is implicitly making the argument that there's no need to pay the premium for a Microsoft operating system, when there is lighter, faster and free version to utilize that is just as good as it's competitor.

So in fact, who would not want a free operating system on their machine from a reputable business giant like Google? With their reputable technology and income that they bring in alone. It should give consumers the extra confidence that Google's engineers can withstand the obstacle of maintaining an operating system that will be subjected to defend itself against constant virus and adware attacks as Microsoft does daily. A feat that Microsoft is pulling off quite well.

Microsoft may have to step it up a bit to do something quite similar before their grand market tumbles. to the ground and begging for mercy. I have a lot of respect for Microsoft and all that they have accomplished but I think It's about time some competition set in for the benefit of all the consumers of the world.
