Google to Release "Chrome" Web Browser Today

Some Chrome to Light the Way

John Melendez
TUESDAY (TODAY) IS THE BIG DAY

Master internet search engine provider Google has made a ground-shaking announcement, claiming the release Tuesday (today) of a new internet browser that will rival mogul Microsoft and its new Internet Explorer (IE) 8.

Google's new beta-version web browser, known as "Chrome", will be free for the download and can be seen as a rival to similar free-for-the-taking browsers such as Mozilla's Firefox, and Netscape Communications' Communicator browser.

WEB BROWSER WAR DECLARED

Google already runs head-to-head with Microsoft for online search and internet advertising, and both companies produce operating software for cellular phones.

In addition to its long-term efforts to thwart Microsoft by producing cost-free productivity programs that enable presentations, word processing, spreadsheets, and email, Google releases Chrome also for free to further spur the tide against Microsoft's dominant end-user software and web browser market share.

Google's release also comes in apparent response to last week's release of Microsoft's IE version 8, which seems to have landed favorable acclaim in early reviews.

Google states in its official blog pages that Chrome can run "...today's complex web applications much better. By keeping each tab in an isolated "sandbox", we were able to prevent one tab from crashing another and provide improved protection from rogue sites. We improved speed and responsiveness across the board."

"CHROME" ANNOUNCED ON A COMIC PLATFORM

In a continuation of Google's ever-interesting marketing saga, Google has opted to announce Chrome to the general public via a comic-book storyboard platform that seems to address both younger audiences and veteran web users alike.

While some speculation may arise as the to the usability and reliability of Google's new web browser, Google's Chrome is sure to add yet another interesting chapter in a recent history of nose-snubbing at Bill Gates' Microsoft empire.

Have fun!
