The site is built around what was formerly JotSpot, which Google acquired in October 2006. It was not known until now what would be done with the acquisition, and it had been causing some concern.
Google claims that "building a site is a simple as editing a document." They have tools available to help users add videos, images, photos, documents, calendars, attachments, and more. Google Sites also allows users to give other people permission to edit their sites to keep it "fresh and up-to-date." Google Sites has a growing number of site templates to use to design your own site. Also, you can use Google Search to search the Google Sites pages to easily find whatever you are looking for.
This new addition expands Google's internet empire even more; Google has almost everything the internet is used for. People can communicate using Gmail, Google Talk, or Orkut. They can find information using Google Search, Google News Search, Google Scholar, and Google Special Searches. Entertainment through Google is found at YouTube in addition to informational videos. Google Maps and Google Earth help users find directions to where they are going and even view it from a satellite. Google helps bloggers and blog readers with Blogger and Google Blog Search.
In addition to what Google already has they also have Google Labs which is all the new projects they are working on. Google Music Trends will allow users to see what music is popular among Google Talk users. Google Mars lets people view the most detailed maps of Mars currently available. Google Web Accelerator is designed to load web pages faster. Google Suggest offers suggestions for search keywords as you type your search. Google Sets will create a list of items in a set when a few items are entered by the user. Accessible Search will provide web search services to the visually impaired.
