Googling God. What is This World Searching For?
Google's Auto-Completion Gives Some Interesting Insights
So, I decided to experiment a bit. What would happen if I began to type some key Christian phrases? I started out using three words, but quickly learned that just searching on two words can bring some interesting results. So, follow along as the adventure begins.
I'll first list the partial phrase I typed in (bolded), followed by some of the top responses that Google gives. Note, some of the result numbers are in the millions, showing the total count of web pages that contain those words/phrases.
How Can God...
How can God help me
How can God allow suffering
How can God love me
If God is...
If God is for us who can be against us
If God is for me who can be against me
If God is good
Will God...
Will God help me
Will God forgive me
Will God forgive adultery
Does God...
Does God love me
Does God change his mind
Does God love everyone
Can God...
Can God lie
Can God change his mind
Can God do anything
Please God...
Please God not man
Please God I'm only 17
Please God no
Please God help me
Does Jesus...
Does Jesus love me
Does Jesus care
Does Jesus say he is God
Jesus I'm...
Jesus I'm sorry
Jesus I'm depending on you
Jesus I'm so in love with you
In looking over the various responses that came from my typed inquiries, I began to see a kind of desperation, a seeking. Are you searching for these kinds of answers?
Does Jesus love me? If you've never looked up John 3:16, then follow that link and let the truth of His words sink down deep. Yes, He does love. He gave, so that you could be forgiven.
Does God care about you? He does, friend. He cared enough to send His only Son to die on the cross for you, in your place -- He made a way where no way existed. Romans 5:6-8
Will God help you? He will help you, and then go beyond even that. He will befriend you. John 15:14-16
The term 'Googling' for God may be new, but all this seeking and searching for Him isn't. Way back in the Old Testament you can find this promise: "But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul." Deuteronomy 4:29
A similar New Testament searching can be found in Luke 11:9-10.
So, if you're seeking Him, Googling Him, don't stop, friend. He promises to be found. And once found, guess what? According to Psalm 139:1, the Googling goes the other way.
"O LORD, you have searched me and you know me."
Welcome to a Godly Google relationship.

Post a CommentFANTASTIC! People are googling anything that will fill the whole in their heart and don't realize it is God. Added you to my faves.
Ron, excellent idea for an article! It truly is interesting how much of those searches reflected a tone of desperation. Yet we often don't see that when we interact with people face to face. Even as a Christian, I went through a period of desperation, and unfortunately, it just was not something I felt comfortable revealing to many people at all. God, help us to see beyond the surface!
Ron, this is just unbelievably good my friend. You've done it again. We can Google for God & He is googling some of us (John 6:44). He has no trouble finding us. We have difficulty finding Him. What do you do to search for God? Unfortunately, there is no formula to finding God, but the good news is that God is searching for you -- and he wants you to find Him. Nice, nice article again. You are such a blessing to my soul my dear friend. Blessings. : - )
