The well-crafted menu offers a fusion of Asian, American and local favorites.
Gordon Biersch was founded in 1988 when Dan Gordon and Dean Biersch opened the first location in Palo Alto, California. Since then, the restaurant has grown to 17 locations across the country.
Gordon Biersch has a Brewmaster on the premises whose job it is to make sure that the beer is brewed to perfection. Gordon Biersch serves the freshest beer possible - the first time it ever sees the light of day is when it comes out of the ice-cold tap into your glass.
All first-time guests are treated to a sample of each of the six beers on tap by the well-versed servers at Gordon Biersch. At the Virginia Beach location, the year-round beers on tap are the smooth, refreshing Golden Export; the flavorful Hefeweizen; the award-winning Czech Lager (Bohemian-style Pilsner); the Marzen traditional Oktoberfest auburn lager; and the mild-bodied, dark Schwarzbier.
Gordon Biersch loves unveiling seasonal beers, and the restaurant throws tapping parties four times a year at their Virginia Beach location. Seasonal beers at the location, to date, have included the rich, moderatley hopped Festbier; the strong, dark Dunkles lager; the Einbecker-style Maibock spring lager; and the summery, straw-gold Kolsch ale.
While most microbreweries brew ales, Gordon Biersch is unique in brewing mostly lagers with a crisp, smooth. Gordon Biersch brews all of their lagers according to the German Purity Law Reinheitsgebot that dates back to 1516 which says beer can only be made with three ingredients - barley, hops and water. Of course, beer is also brewed with yeast, an ingredient that has since been added - no one realized back then that yeast was one of the main ingredients because it was simply present in the air.
The loyalty program at Gordon Biersch is top-notch. Buy the GB Passport for $20, and recieve a $20 giftcard in the mail, plus coupons for a free entree every year during the month of your birthday. Then, earn points every time you eat at GB and redeem them for giftcards and other free stuff. Plus, the GB Passport gets you to the front of the line - VIP seating.
Gordon Biersch takes reservations and has a room available for private parties. The food is excellent, featuring eclectic ingredients and a variety of options. The well-crafted menu offers a fusion of Asian, American and local favorites, including seafood, chicken, pasta, stir-fry dishes, burgers, pizzas, salads and some delicious desserts. The Virginia Beach location also offers free wireless internet access.
