Gorton's Grilled Salmon Makes Enjoying Salmon Easy

Review: Gorton's Grilled Salmon

Joshua McMorrow-Hernandez
Do you have a hankering for some grilled salmon but don't have the time to prepare and cook fresh salmon straight from the butcher or fish market? Then you've got to try Gorton's Grilled Salmon. Conveniently found in cartons of 2 fillets in your grocer's frozen section for about $3.50 to $4.50 (price depending on where and when you shop), Gorton's Grilled Salmon offers smoky, fresh flavor delivered with little effort.

Preparation

Gorton's Grilled Salmon is easy to cook in your conventional oven or microwave oven.

Conventional Oven

Preheat your conventional oven to 400 degrees and then place the salmon fillets (with the seasoned sides facing up) on a metal baking sheet or metal baking pan. Let the fillets cook uncovered for 14 to 16 minutes.

Any whiteness you see on the surface of your salmon during or after cooking is simply the protein in the fish fillets and not a sign that you did anything wrong with cooking the grilled salmon!

Microwave

If you're cooking your grilled salmon in your microwave, place the fillets on a microwaveable plate and then cover the fish with some wax paper. If you're cooking 1 fillet, let it bake on HIGH for 3 to 4-1/2 minutes. If you're cooking 2 fillets at once in your microwave, let both pieces of grilled salmon bake for 4-1/2 to 6 minutes. Be sure to rotate the very hot plate during the cooking process.

Flavor

The quality of Gorton's Grilled Salmon is great, with no gray pieces found in the flaky, pink fish as I enjoyed it one evening for dinner. The smoky flavor is thick and deep, but some may find that it ever-so-slightly has a way of verging on light bitterness, especially in areas where the fish is not so well covered with the seasoning glaze. At any rate, Gorton's Grilled Salmon tastes really great and is perfectly moist.

Nutrition

Gorton's Grilled Salmon is a healthy way to eat fish. You'll find 410 milligrams of Omega-3 in each fillet, and only 100 calories, 3 grams of total fat, and just 35 milligrams of cholesterol. Here are some more nutritional numbers to digest:
