The rumors are impossible to debunk because the conspiracy is just as impossible to prove. Imagine, a secret society, founded in 1776, clandestinely ruling the world, media, sports, politics, capitalism, wars, science, weather, fashion trends, Dow, Nasdaq, taste buds, opinions, body odors, and everything else that exists in our world. You can't really fault those who believe when you see entertainers like Jay-Z playing up to it. As ferociously as rumors swirl about his devotion to the devil, he is quick to dismiss them, stating in one radio interview that he believes in God, one God, not hell. But catch him in photos or YouTube videos just as quickly flashing the "all-seeing-eye" gesture, or a conspiratorial staple: the pyramid with both hands. "Are you playing it up for the media?" one interviewer once asked him. "That's the entertainer in me," he responds.
Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Barak Obama, Mikhail Gorbachev-- the list goes on... forever. I admit, even I too became engrossed one night researching, when I stumbled across a video describing how Tupac Shakur was murdered as a martyr for speaking out against the Illuminati. Refusing to play by "their" rules, Shakur was murdered, then replaced, by Dr. Dre as the king of west coast rap.
Dr. Dre was king?
It went on to describe how the Notorious B.I.G. also refused to play by "their" rules, and was also murdered and replaced... by Jay-Z. The king of rap in the South, Pimp C, was also murdered and replaced. Here, the credibility of the video started to fade, because I'll be honest-- I have no idea who the hell Pimp C is.
You can't debunk what isn't visible, isn't tangible, and is so secret no one really knows it exists. That would be like debunking religion. You can call them haters, you can call them bored, you can call them gullible, but there does exist a significant number of people who believe in this, and many other conspiracy theories. It doesn't help when entertainers utilize rumors as fodder for publicity. Not that it's even needed, you can Google Image-search tons of photos of politicians, athletes, and world leaders shaking hands, touching elbows or interlocking fingers in ways that are "proven" to be evidence of secret society linkage.
The best response I could find to this came from a Yahoo Answers message board:

"think about it. Think about what you know about people and especially large organisations. How likely is it that they are so competent they can not only run the world, but do it in complete secrecy? All the investigative journalists, the military, the intelligence services, interpol, the police etc, would either have to be in on it (impossible, it would have leaked) or be totally unaware of it. And yet some spotty anonymous teenager in an internet forum knows all about it?"
Gossip, gossip, n***a just stop it.
