Got a Hunch? Tips to Enhance Your Intuition

Yvonne M. Glasgow, Ph.D.
Ever get a feeling only to have it come to fruition. Like maybe you thought about an old friend and suddenly they call. Or you feel like someone just walked over your grave only to get the notice that someone close to you has passed on. Maybe it was just a feeling about the true intentions of some certain person only to find out your first impressions of them were right, good or bad. All of this is intuition. It's a gut feeling we get. You can help hone your intuitive abilities with just a few simple steps.

Use meditation and deep breathing. These two things will help relax you and when you are relaxed you can hear your inner voices better. During meditation you can connect with higher beings that may guide you in your journey into intuition too. A relaxed mind is able to think and hear more, it can also retain more information.

Always ask your intuition open-ended questions. If you are just asking things that can be answered with a yes or no you may not be getting the right answers. More detailed answers will help to guide you in the right direction. Rather than asking if you should apply for a certain job ask what path you should be taking in your career search.

Always practice patience. If the answers don't come to your right away don't give up and don't get frustrated. The answers will come when you are ready for them. Intuition is not like dealing with people, it is your inner voice and sometimes this inner voice has trouble being heard.

That leads to the next steps in developing your intuition. That step is to listen. Always listen to what your inner self is saying to you. Also, be sure to listen to the intuitions of others. Believing that other people can listen to their inner voices and that those voices can be of aide to you will help your intuition develop too.

Last, but not least, practice makes perfect. The more you use your intuition the better it will work and the more often it will be right. Intuition is always there, you just have to know how to listen to what it is trying to tell you.
