Goulash Recipe: American Style

Pam Thomas
An original Hungarian goulash receipt was a stew or soup made up of beef, vegetables and spices but it has been changed and adapted to the American way of living. Quick, easy and good. I modified the original goulash receipts for the ease of cooking and for my families taste.

Ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef
1 chopped medium onion
1 clove garlic, minced
3 cups pasta (rotini, shells, penna, or elbows will work)
1 can kidney beans
1 can whole kernel corn
1 can diced tomatoes
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon basil
1 can tomato sauce
1 cup shredded Asago cheese

Step 1: Brown the ground beef, onion, and garlic in skillet. Drain all grease off and set aside.
Step 2: Cook the pasta, strain and set aside.
Step 3: In large pan combine the kidney beans, corn, tomatoes, salt, chili powder, paprika, basil, and tomato sauce. Heat through on low heat about 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 4: Mix in the ground beef mixture and the cooked pasta. Let simmer for 5 minutes more.
Step 5: Add the cheese and stir until the cheese is almost melted and service.
