The Democratic leadership saw an opportunity from Republican failures during the Bush administration and squeezed every ounce out of it. Both during the campaign and while in office, President Obama has made it perfectly clear that the Bush administration is responsible for the financial mess we are in today-alleviating any responsibility that the American public had in creating the financial collapse. Man's depravity naturally draws him to solutions that mean less responsibility. The irresponsible in our society have benefited from the free "hand-outs" of mortgage bailouts and new credit card rules that reward their reckless habits and punish the responsible.
The sense of urgency that the Obama administration has exhibited in trying to get healthcare reform passed is equally disturbing. The 2010 elections are just around the corner, and Obama realizes that Democratic control in Congress depends on his ability to get healthcare reform passed. While everyone realizes healthcare reform is necessary-you don't have to be a Democrat to realize that-a CBO scored healthcare overhaul agenda that "saves" 138 billion dollars over ten years is just not acceptable, unless you want greater control over both private industry and the people. In reality, the sustainable growth rate for entitlement programs will deplete any savings from the healthcare bill and actually add cost to the deficit. But, when you control the information, it is easy to manipulate CBO scores by saying as little as possible.
I urge each person who reads this article to become a government skeptic. Both parties, Republicans and
Democrats, are guilty of trying to "pull the wool" over people's eyes. It just so happens that this attempt by
Democrats will cost citizens taxpayer money and freedoms guaranteed in the Tenth Amendment.
