Government Enforced Equality Destroys Freedom

Too much of a good thing. Too much equality, too much fairness. The emphasis on ensuring everyone is treated equally and fairly in this country has led us to the stupidity of depriving the majority's liberty for the sake of fairness and so-called equality (which typically turns out to be reverse discrimination).

Instead of focusing on the obvious segment most likely to produce an "Allah Akbar" shrieking maniac we make everyone relinquish their liberty for the sake of treating all people "equally and fairly".

The bureaucrats would rather be seen as idiots and morons than be accused of being unfair.

Liberty means being able to specify that you will only rent the room over your garage to a Christian. Or that you'll only serve food in your restaurant to Muslims. Or that you'll only hire a white guy. Or only an Asian. Or only girls with great big knockers.

Fairness and equality means the government gets to kick your door in, allow anyone to come live in that room you advertised for rent as long as they have the rent money (including those who get the rent money subsidized by the government), and you get thrown in jail if you protest because you don't want a transvestite midget sado-masochist living on your property. Fairness and equality means you have to hire this many black folks or white folks or Asian folks for every so many other folks of some other ethnicity, religion, or galactic origin, and you get fined, tossed in jail, or both if you don't meet the government's quotas.

It's immoral and unconscionable for someone to refuse service to a person based on their skin, their race, or their religion. I personally think it's immoral and unconscionable to refuse them service based on their sexual orientation, despite my personal belief that homosexuality is wrong, just like bigamy or adultery is wrong.

BUT...

It is reprehensible to allow the government to force private citizens and private businesses to treat everyone equally and fairly.

When I was a night shift cop and I saw a dishevelled black guy walking around a high-end predominantly white neighborhood I stopped him, checked him for warrants and contraband, and asked him what he was doing there. Common sense told me that he was probably up to no good. I was "unfair" enough to think that he might be intent on burglary, theft, or maybe even armed robbery or rape. And I was often right.

If I saw a white kid driving a new model Volvo in a public housing area I stopped him and checked him for warrants and contraband. Common sense told me he was probably there to buy drugs, find a hooker, or even molest some errant teen or child whose parent was out working three jobs trying to pay rent and grocery bills. And I was often right.

Was it racial profiling? Hell yes, it was. I stopped them because of multiple indicators, and one of them was the color of their skin. How much sense would it have made if I stopped and checked two-hundred black guys for every one white guy I found in that public housing area just so I could treat everyone fairly and equally? Wasn't it better for me to ensure those guys liberty by not stopping them unless I had a reasonable suspicion they were breaking the law?

The people that have sworn to destroy this country and attacked us at home and abroad are middle eastern Muslims. Why are TSA agents fondling the genitals of black people, Asian people, white people, and every other ethnicity when the only folks who have carried out or been thwarted in the midst of initiating terrorist attacks on us since 9/11 are of middle eastern descent?

If you're searching for drugs, weapons, and illegal immigrants at the Mexican border it makes sense to check everyone coming across no matter what they look like, but if you're looking for an Islamic terrorist the little old nun or the middle-aged black guy in business attire is probably not the most likely suspect.

Do you know the TSA agents are even required to screen the pilots? What do you think a pilot is going to do if he's on a mission to destroy a plane full of people? It's not really necessary for him to smuggle a bomb on board in his underwear when he can simply fly the plane into the ground or an office tower.

The federal government and the vast majority of our politicians are booger-picking morons.

Ignorance is the enemy of liberty. Fairness and equality are often tools in the hands of those who would destroy liberty.

Let liberty lead, fairness and equality will follow. Reverse that order, and liberty will be dragged to her death by the other two.
