If you have been meaning to replace your old furnace, windows or repair your roof, you have come to the right place. The local, state and federal government has a number of initiatives in place that will assist you in doing to if you qualify. The programs can come in the form of a loan, forgiven loan or a grant depending on your income, family size and geographic location of your home.

Now if you have a rental property, some government offices have programs for you but it depends on the location of your property, the size of it and also who you are renting to. If you are renting to individuals that receive subsidized rent payments, you maybe in luck. You do not necessarily have to be renting all of your units out to subsidized renters but a certain percentage would need to be to qualify for some programs.

Most rehab programs nowadays surround in some way shape or form energy efficiency. Because many older homes are terribly inefficient, the federal government has programs that are given out by state and local government offices. In some cases, there are non-profit organizations which also distribute funds. Type into any search engine either "weatherization assistance" or "incentives for renewables and efficiently" and locate the appropriate contact for your area.

There are also programs set aside especially for individuals that have a physical disability or the elderly which makes it difficult to get into their residence and also get around it. Start by checking with your local Center for Independent Living for programs in your area for you or someone you love.

There are a number of government programs out there to fix up your home that does not surround the afore-mentioned. The government will not assist you in most cases with aesthetic issues such as painting you home, modernizing your kitchen or replacing those worn out rugs in your living room. The repairs that most times qualify for example are issues with your foundation for example or concerns to bring the property up to code. There are exceptions to the norm so you need to either check with your local Housing and Community Development office at the county or city level or a local non-profit organization that facilitates programs of this nature. You can locate a non-profit either by calling information (211 for example) or contacting your local Housing and Community Development Office to gain a referred.
