- Mark Twain
This year, like every election year, we here in the United States have been jack hammered by the howling shouts of the politicians up for re-election or promotion (as in, trying to get elected to the highest profile career on the face of the earth, President of the United States), the shouts that decry "inequality", the howls that call for yet another shakedown of the wealthy, who everyone knows or should know are filth and slime who swim in other people's money.
The middle class should receive more entitlements and the wealthy should pay for them all. This is because the middle class people are entitled to be wealthy, just as The Hillary is entitled to be our next President (For, after all, not only is she Missus Bill, she's a woman, too!), even though they don't do the things that those who are wealthy do, foremost on that docket being learning how to invest money wisely and then following a discipline of doing so through good times and bad. And the poor...well, they wouldn't be poor if it were not for all of those filthy, slimy wealthy and those corporations like, for instance, the wicked and vile oil companies who, since they are currently making record-high profits from meeting the needs and demands of about a billion people spanning the globe, should snap their fingers and lower their prices.
(What the idiot politicians who engaged in the oil executive shakedown the other day don't seem to know and wouldn't care about if they did is that while oil and gas corporations' total profits may be at record highs-for a host of reasons that have to do with the market's forces, the globe, and the everyday people milling on the floor of the New York Mercantile Exchange-their profit margins are not. The profit-per-barrel that oil companies are taking in is only a few dollars per barrel. Not to mention the fact that if the idiot politicians really want the oil companies to engage in more development of alternative fuels, they will need to let them be profitable so they can re-invest profits in research and development, which they are already doing. But the politicians would rather bilk the producers of the world and then subsidize whomever they choose; it makes them look heroic and powerful, don't ya know.)
The middle class is not entitled to a damnable thing except life, liberty, and the pursuit of property (I know, you think that's supposed to say "happiness", but Jefferson wanted it to say "property" and I feel that we'd all be better off if he had gotten his way. One without property of some kind isn't happy, anyway.)
Instead of giving the poor free fish, we should be teaching them how to be anglers, and they have a responsibility to learn how to be anglers.
The United States has the most fluid and easy class mobility, in both structure and practice, of any nation in the world (although our Lefty politicians, go they by the name Republican or Democrat, are doing all they can to remedy that). Since the mid-1970s, the middle class in the United States has shrunk-precisely because since then a larger percentage of those people who were or came from the middle class are now in the wealthier classes. And this mobility has taken place even with an increasing total population and a diminishing poor class (the poor class has diminished because a higher percentage of people who once would have been poor are now middle class).
Our Socialist politicians pander to the very people that the Founders tried to keep out of the loop of leader-election. Today, our noticeably failing public educational system teaches, in so many words, that the Founders were landed gentry who, while they had many good intentions at hear, also just wanted to protect their own and consolidate power in the hands of the wealthy.
This is completely inconsistent with history and totally incompatible with the Constitution and other documents that those Founders wrote.
But the Founders decreed that only adult men who owned property could vote because they had certain real-world experiences with government and were intimately wise about human nature. They understood that those who are today the school drop-outs, the drug dealers, the welfare recipients, the consistently unemployed, the unskilled, and their ilk are the very sort that can be made into useful idiots by the power-mad politicians.
The middle class can be easily duped into supporting their programs of heavy taxation and punishment of the wealthy because they know that the solutions are always, at least nominally, to tax the hell out of the wealthy and re-distribute wealth; and given the fact that the caught-in-the-middle class was born out of pretenses to being or becoming nobility, they are always ready to have more entitlements thrown their way-especially so that they can waste them and live above their means and then demand that the government get them out of their debts.
Make no mistake, our politicians will never cease from tirelessly endorsing the cult of victimhood and playing on the natural tendency of sheeple to envy the wealthy to the point of hatred.
Never forget that lies travel all across the globe while the truth is still lacing up its cross-trainers.

Post a CommentThis article is very true, Brant. However, I believe the end game of the government is to ELIMINATE the middle class, or more accurately, to trick them into eliminating themselves with the ways you've pointed out here. As the decide they're entitled to more free goodies from Unkie Sugar, they will gladly forfeit their rights (and their freedoms) one by one, until they become part of the proletariet. Remember: Eliminationg the boirgoise (middle class) was the first step in the creation of Marx and Engall's communist utopia (where everyone is equally broke!)
Yep.
