Governments Wasting Tax Payers Money

This morning I got the shock of my life! Remember the old Pollock joke, "how many does it take to screw in a light bulb"? Well I can top that joke with what I saw this morning out my back door... "How many county workers and heavy machinery does it take to pick up a pile of weeds and "try" to weed alongside the alley"? The answer to the joke is, four. One to drive the highway mower, one to drive the backhoe, (this was to place the pile of weeds in the front shovel), one to pitchfork the weeds into the shovel on the backhoe, and one to watch with hands on hips. Then you also have the caterpillar, (big machinery), that tried to mow the weeds that the highway mower missed, and he missed them too, and dug a nice trench instead.

I don't know about anyone else in this County, but I personal do not like seeing my tax payer dollars used wastefully, and you cannot get more wasteful than that. My husband and I have only lived in Huerfano County for a little more than a month, but we are tax payers, and will have to pay our County taxes at the end of the year just like those who have lived here all their lives, and I do not appreciate what I saw this morning at all. I could have done, in less than 10 minutes, by myself, what it took 4 MEN to do, and they need 3 huge pieces of machinery to help them.

The sad part is, the weeds that they TRIED to cut down, are still standing, and there is a rut dug next to them from the big machines trying to cut them down. I sure hope I am not the only one that sees the senselessness of this. All that was needed to do the job was one man, (or woman), a pair of gloves, a trash can, and a weed eater, and of course about 10 - 30 minutes. With that equation, you would have had the pile of weeds up and disposed of in a trash receptacle, (I'm sure from here that big backhoe had to take that pile of weeds to a trash receptacle somewhere), and the weeds cut down which are right now, still standing.

I am an American Citizen who is sick of local and federal Governments not caring how much money they spend, and all of us tax paying Americans need to get off our duffs and speak out. The waste will never stop until we all do!
