Gowanus Canal Raw Sewage Overflow Video Goes Viral

No surprise, Clean Water Act and Superfund site inclusive, the Gowanus Canal is still stinking up the place. What is new though is the Gowanus Raw Sewage video that has gone viral, which was originally recorded during the bad storms of September16.

A couple of guys in a residence next to the Gowanus Canal were recording the appearance of it immediately following the subsidence of the September 16 storms that rumbled fiercely through Jersey and New York. What they were noticing wasn't anything too out of the ordinary for the Gowanus Canal, when suddenly the smelly, nitrate-filled, oxygen-depleted, green-colored water began reversing course. Now a fast moving layer of putrid brown raw sewage starts overflowing the canal.

It's a disgusting sight to see, to say the least. It's on YouTube and linked on blogs, even on the New York Times.
