Grace Before Meals

Giving Your Thanks

Stacey Doyle
Grace before meals is common on Thanksgiving Day. While everyone might remember grace before meals on Thanksgiving, we need to give our thanks everyday. Grace before meals feels good and brings your family together in prayer.

And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken [it], he began to eat.

Acts 27:35

On Thanksgiving and all the time, we need to thank God for the meal before us. His grace gives us food for the body, mind and spirit. Grace before meals can be as simple or dedicated as you choose, based on the age of your children and the time you spend on meals. Speak from your hearts to Him when you say grace before meals. Give everyone a turn each night.

Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

Psalms 95:2

Grace before meals is a special event on Thanksgiving. Often a family member is designated the "head" of the table and starts the prayer. Grace before meals can include a testimonial of thanksgiving from everyone before the feast begins. After all, without Him it would not be possible.

Our family looks forward to grace before meals. We even hold hands as we pray and do this in public places...Wendy's and Burger King included!

Do you say grace before meals everyday? Is there a special grace before meals you say on Thanksgiving? Does your family enjoy sharing this special time together? Please feel free to comment or post your own thoughts at Gathering 4 Jesus.

Have a beautiful, blessed Thanksgiving week!
