I was talking tonight to a 17 year old boy who is a student at a Christian school and he was expressing to me his frustration with his classmates that claim to be Christians yet they compromise and try to see how much they can get away with and still go to Heaven.
Let me be clear : if you intentionally sin continuously, you will NOT go toHeaven. 1 John clearly says that fanyone sins he or she is from the devil. Yes, he does say that if we sin we have an advocate at the Father...a defender for us, but that shouldnt be the norm. John is not saying we do not sin at all or make mistakes, but that if we do make a habit of living in sin, of sinning on a regular basis then we are not saved...we are from the devil. How do you like to be told that? But God doesnt lie.
We cannot claim to be Christians and live in sin. There is an erroneous teaching out there that grace covers everything. True. Grace covers a repentant heart, but not the rebellious ones. If you rebell intentionally the Bible says in Romans 1 that the only hope is the anger of God upon sons of disobedience.
America has watered down the Gospel and believes that God is ok with just about everything we do because He is love and He gives us grace. No way! Romans 6 Pauls clearly says that we cannot sin now that we are under grace or else we become overcome by it and its slave. John goes even that far that he says that those who belong to God CANNOT sin. WOW! That makes me think twice about my actions. Also, Ephesians 6 says that we will reap what we sow. Every time you sin, you will reap the Word says. Every time you do something good, you will reap. God doesnt lie. So, that should make us think twice before we want to compromise even a little. It definitely made me think twice before I watch that show, or say that word. Yes, I am still struggling but I am on the right path.
It is time to wake up America! It is time to wake up Church and get serious. We need to realize that God wants us to honor and respect Him. I have made a lot of mistakes and mocked God myself with my lifestyle, but no more. Repentance means one needs to stop doing what they are doing. Someone said once that saying sorry if we steal does it mean we can keep the stuff we stole? Yet, we take someone else's wife and we say "sorry" (a repentance that is not genuine" ) and stay in that adulterous relationship. We get drunk and we do the same. We sleep with people that we are not married to ( young people) and before we do it we say , " I will do it and then I will ask for forgiveness". There is somethign wrong with the church. Repentance doesnt mean sayign "sorry", but changing my ways 180 degrees.
Who do you belong to: the devil or God? Look at your lifestyle and analyze your heart. God is love and grace, but He is holy and it doesnt mean we can mock His grace and live in sin because He will just cover. God will not be mocked! It is the deception of the devil that we can live in sin and still end up in heaven. Where is there a scripture on that? Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6 that we need to not be mistaken because neither adulterers, nor cowards, nor idolators, etc will inherit the Kingdom of God. I wil lbelieve God.
The good news is that God has the power to change us and grant us repentance. But it is up to us to obey. God requires obedience even under grace. Grace is mercy one needs when it is overwhelmed by sin, it is not mercy towards those who WANT to sin. Yes, we are saved based on what Jesus did, but Jesus didnt die so you can sin again and ignore Him. He sais in John chapter 14 that He who loves Him, will obey His commandments. It is simple as that. You dont obey then it means you do not love Him. You do not love Him, how do you think you are saved then? And how in the world can one think he is going to heaven then?
God is love, but grace is not to be abused and mocked. 1 Peter says that those who have been enlightened once and they still go back to their sin, it would have been better if they never had known God and then go back like a pig to its messy mud. The Word says, those people that do that will become worse. Jesus in fact said that 7 times worse. That means if you drank before you knew the Lord and truly got saved and went back to that sin later, you are 7 times worse alcoholic....now that is worse. I believe it would be 7 times harder to live with such a person. So, we see as Titus says that the grace of God teaches us to break it off with ungodliness, not sin so we can be forgiven of more. It teaches us to break it OFF. Grace says, " No more sinning". We have no excuse anymore because we have been shown grace, unimaginable love to give us the strength to renounce our sin.
So, please search your hearts and stop sinning. God wants us to respect Him and believe His Word. Salvation is not free. I mean you dont have to pay for it( just believe), but it cost the life of the Son of God. Your actions will determine your destiny. If you know better and still do wrong, there is no grace covering you. John said if we practice sin, we are from the devil, not God. So how can we claim we are God's children yet live in sin and then we say that grace will cover us? Grace covers the obedient and people who want to change.
