Graco Comfort Sport Car Seat Review

K Jolin
We bought this car seat at Target when our daughter turned one. We wanted to keep her rear facing because she is very small and for safety as well. The Comfort Sport Convertible carseat made by Graco seemed to be a great option for a convertible car seat. It is priced very reasonable at about $80. I got mine on sale for only $70, so that was extra exciting! We purchased the Timber model; it is a soft brown color. The fabric is very soft to the touch, and seems to be well padded. I think our daughter is extremely comfortable when sitting in the seat.

The first thing we noticed about the seat is that it is fairly large. This is a pretty common concern about convertible car seats, so we expected this. Upon installing the Comfort Sport carseat in the rear seat of our GMC Jimmy, we noticed we could not drive the car! We had to move the driver's seat so far up that we couldn't fit in the front seat! We wanted to place the convertible car seat on the driver's side since we have another toddler behind the passenger seat. We figured the convertible car seat provided more protection that the simple booster seat our toddler is riding in, so it should go on the driver's side. Well, since this was not an option, we had to switch the car seat positions. Soon they will both be forward facing anyway, so it won't be a problem then. The seat was easy to install with the belt, and switches from rear facing to forward facing very easily. The seat can hold infants 5-30 pounds rear facing and toddlers 20-40 pounds forward facing. We figure this seat will last a long time since our 3 year old toddler still only weighs 29 pounds! The top harness slots are a little low, so the height requirements will probably be outgrown before the weight requirements are met.

The seat excels in safety reviews, which was the main deciding factor we considered when making the purchase. The Comfort Sport Convertible carseat by Graco is lined with EPS energy-absorbing foam liner around the infants head. This foam is the same foam used in bike helmets. This is a feature that was very important to us, and we were delighted the Graco Comfort Sport had the EPS foam.

The buckles are very easy to use. Adjusting the tightness is done easily with a pull tight strap in the front of the seat. The chest clip is a little tricky, but once you unbuckle it a few times, you get the hang of it. Twisting straps may be a slight problem, but we haven't found it to be an issue yet.

My favorite thing about this seat is definately the fabric. The Timber model is a great shade of brown that would work for both a boy or a girl. It is very soft to the touch and will not heat up in the hot car during the summer. It appears to be very strong fabric that will stand the test of time! Overall, we have been very pleased with our Graco Comfort Sport Convertible carseat, and I think our daughter has been too!
