Don't ramble; create an Objective. When creating a resume one of the key focal points to any employer is the objective. It is basically a statement of purpose telling the potential employer what you want out of the position. You may want to mention your objective is to bring to the company a well-trained (insert position) determined to share knowledge, execute technical skills and perform duties with accuracy and in a team environment.
List your education; accredited that is. Be sure to start with the highest degree earned and work your way down. If returning as an older student and worried about the gap in education from high school to college, you don't have to list the dates attended/year graduated.
State your knowledge, skills and abilities. New graduates can create a resume listing technical skills including certifications in this part. Be sure to state skills and abilities that directly correlate to the intended job's positional requirements. This means you may have to tailor your resume to each position, but many are electronically scanned and are on the look out for certain key phrases and words.
Make an employment history. Be sure to list student employment, internships or apprenticeships. Take key elements from each position that would be needed for your desired position and incorporate them into the job responsibilities. This not only shows your potential employer you are experienced with this task or skill, but also gives you more information to put on your resume.
Boast a little. New graduates frequently have some awards and recognitions they can put on their resume. From graduating with a high gpa to being the recipient of a scholarship, look at all of your academic achievements and list them on your resume.
Be sure to include copies of transcripts and certifications. If applying for a job that requires a license or certification, you may want to have a resume specifically ready contains a copy of transcripts or certifications. This will give your potential employer confidence that you are a competent and tested individual in your desired field.
