Graduation Dinner Celebration Spots in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Leigh S.
When graduation dinners come around, stay away from the traditional chains and go for something off the beaten path. Here are three great restaurants in Lancaster, PA for graduation celebrations.

Strawberry Hill
Sitting on the corners of Mulberry, Vine and, hence the name, Strawberry Streets, is a Victorian building that is home to Strawberry Hill Restaurant. Owned and managed by Dennis Kerek, Chip Kerek and Karen Kerek, they ensure you have a memorable experience at Strawberry Hill. Strawberry Hill serves mouth-watering appetizers such as goat cheese wontons and crab cakes, and main meals ranging from grilled duck and wild mushroom polenta. Entrees range from $16-$34. The price is well worth itStrawberry Hill received numerous awards such as Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator (award winning since 1991) and 3 bells from Philadelphia Inquirer. Nation's Restaurant News says "Driven is one word to describe Strawberry Hill: The restaurant is wine driven, chef driven and produce driven." . Call ahead for large groups, especially since they are willing to accommodate groups of up to 50. Visit their website for menus and reservations: www.strawberryhillrestaurant.com.

Carr's Restaurant
Boasting one of Lancaster's most extensive wine lists, Carr's menu isn't left in the dust. Carr's serves some of Lancaster's traditional comfort foods, but also impresses with Medallions of Veal Oscar. Two course plates range from $25-$30. Their newest addition is Crush wine bar and tapas restaurant. Carr's also has outdoor dining on Market Street Every Friday and Saturday in June, July and August. Words used to describe Carr's include: "relaxed New American," "outstanding food," "upscale," and "sophistication." To learn more about the Chef and owner, visit: www.carrsrestaurant.com.

John J. Jeffries
The philosophy here is "Seasonal - Sustainable - Farm Fresh." JJJ applies this to not only the food they serve, but also the drinks they have on tap- six of the daft handles are local PA beers. Their menu varies by season since they buy fresh produce and local meats. Plates vary from small (around $5+) and large (up to $25). The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating and includes a hip bar (although it resembles Lancaster Fine Art's). Private dining can seat 20 to 60 people in varying rooms. The terrace is a favorite spot, so make sure to make your reservations early. For more info, check out: www.johnjjeffries.com.
