Graduation Gowns as Works of Art

Graduation Gowns Aren't Just for Graduation Anymore

Rachel Heller
It's time for graduations of all types. Some graduates will be going from finger painting and cookie time to learning numbers, letters, and how to cooperate with others. Other graduates will be going from high school to college. In other words, high school graduates will be going from childhood to adulthood. There will also be college graduates that will be going from the classroom to the boardroom. However, each graduate will have to walk in caps and graduation gowns. Now I am completely aware that graduation gowns are not the most fashionable or fashion forward items in the world. However, rest assured that there are many things that graduates can do with their graduation gowns that has nothing to do with burning them.

Many graduates to be like to create beautiful art pieces; therefore graduates can use their graduation gowns as material for a collage. In addition, if you are a wonder with a sewing machine and always wanted to make a quilt then, use your graduation gown as part of a quilt. Take a quilt square and sew a strip of graduation gown to it so that you can and will remember a milestone in your life for a long time. In addition by having a quilt made with part of your graduation gown in a patchwork quilt, it will be possible to remember a good part of your life when the world gets rough.

Graduation gowns can also be used in a paper mache art project. Simply cut your graduation gowns into strips and dip them in the paste and water mixture. Then stick the strips of graduation gown on a basket or a piƱata or anything else you wish. If you have graduation gowns of different colors such as blue, black, green, and purple then, you can create an exquisite rainbow graduation gown work of art. Also, children can place strips of any graduation gown in the spokes of their bike instead of baseball cards. Graduation gowns aren't just for graduations anymore.
