Graduation: Themed Coloring Pages and Ideas

Celeste St. John
Graduation is nearing. Time to get out your make-believe cap and gown! Whether your little one is graduating from preschool, kindergarten or elementary school, I have found that it is a challenge to find crafts and coloring pages to help him/her understand what is happening in life. Coloring pages is like reading an article for small children - highly and intelligently engaging while offering work for the mind.

If you don't have time to research what stores have graduation themes, and you want to focus on an activity to help your child understand this momentous and grand occasion, I highly recommend these websites:

* these first few websites offer individual pages.

1. Go to www.Google.com. Type in Graduation coloring pages in the search box. Hit the underlined word Images in the upper left hand corner. You find a few coloring pages suited to the theme.

2. www.crayola.com did not disappoint at delivering a handful of coloring pages on webpage http://www.crayola.com/free-coloring-pages/cards-and-gifts-coloring-pages/ to keep the little ones occupied. Click on Award Trophy, Medal of Honor and Thank You, Teacher.

3. www.coloring.cs had even fewer coloring pages but was true to the graduation theme.

4. http://www.dltk-holidays.com/graduation/mgradposter.html has a lot of coloring pages but one or two that are graduation themed. It still is worth mentioning.

5. http://www.coloringbookfun.com/schoolspirit has school spirit in mind with their You're an A+, Best Student Ever, and Cap and Gown drawings. These are certainly suitable to enhance a graduation themed extracurricular activity for your little one.

6. http://www.primarygames.com/holidays/back_to_school/coloring.htm had some pages to color under the Back to School category. There is a worm wearing a graduation cap, a student holding an A+ paper and a teacher holding a scroll-like long sheet. You can blow up the last one to a bigger size and write or inscribe a diploma on the blank space of the scroll.

*these websites have a more centralized graduation theme

1. http://www.kidsturncentral.com/coloring/gradcolor.htm shows variations of a bear wearing a cap and gown and holding a diploma. You might want to white out the 2008 sign and put in 2009!

2. http://familycrafts.about.com/library/color/blcolgradshadw.htm and http://familycrafts.about.com/library/color/blcolhanddiplom.htm both have a large display of a graduation picture. This one should be easy to print.

3. http://www.apples4theteacher.com/coloring-pages/graduation/ has a plethora of graduation-themed coloring pages for all ages. It shouldn't be hard to put together a small craft for the children to enjoy.

4. http://www.preschoolcoloringbook.com/color/cpgraduation.shtml has a lot of 8.5 x ll pages to print out. The drawings have a sort of Charles Schultz/Peanuts influence which makes it extra kid-friendly!

*these last two websites are for more craft oriented projects and home schooling.

1. http://familycrafts.about.com/od/graduationcoloringpages/Graduation_Coloring_Book_Pages.htm just has information on a list of coloring pages you can get online or in the store.

2. http://www.edhelper.com/ is a teacher's best friend. For graduation inspired activities, just click on the link for monthly themes located in the lower, right-hand corner of the Table of Contents box. Then, click on the May Theme or June Theme. Afterwards, find the End of School or Teacher Appreciation link and click on either of those links. You can even click on the Make Your own Puzzle link for obvious reasons. You can see from the from the home page of this website why I said it is a teacher's best friend. It has a wealth of information to guide anyone wanted to further educate and instill value in children. I hope I have helped you do the same for your lot.

Congratulations, everyone on a job well done! Happy Graduation!
