Grahamwich Finally Opens in River North

Months after Graham Elliot announced his plans to open a sandwich shop in the River North neighborhood of Chicago, it finally opened on December 15, 2010. The project, which was announced 21 months earlier took a little longer than anticipated because the build-out process was more involved and delicate since the shop is in a landmark building. Other than that, Elliot has other projects that demand his attention, such as Lollapalozza, Master Chef. The sandwich shop, located at 615 North State Street, Chicago was host to a few chefs that Elliot had invited for a taste run. Invited chefs included Giuseppe Tentori, Ryan Poli and Grant Achatz.

The plans for the restaurant are in the morning, only pastries and coffee will be sold. Then, at 11:00 am, Grahamwich will serve the whole menu. These items include smoked whitefish with raisin chutney sandwiches and turkey confit with sage mayo sandwiches. Sides include chips, popcorn and pickles and soft drinks include housmade orange-ginger soda and lemon-lime soda. Also on the menu is Greek yogurt soft serve style with glazed chestnuts, roasted apple and cinnamon stick.
