Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony Video Game Review for Xbox 360

"Welcome to Liberty City"

Heard of the video game Grand Theft Auto? If you have, you must play The Ballad of Gay Tony from the Grand Theft Auto IV series. Not only is it packed with the usual guns, violence and typical Grand Theft humor, it offers a new storyline and twist of sorts. For those that enjoyed being in Liberty City so much, get ready, you're going right back to those dark alleys and violent civilians. While you can choose to play The Ballad of Gay Tony on PS3, the game really excels at its best on the Xbox 360. You can play the downloadable version on Xbox Live as well as cop the Episodes of Liberty City retail disc.

Same Game Play Style

For those of you looking for a complete change of Grand Theft Auto IV by playing The Ballad of Gay Tony, don't expect to much! When driving, the cars are still slick on the road as if they're cruisin' on ice and the gun aim is still "iffy" at most. When it comes to missions you will experience the same thing, a high reward if you complete the mission, however; you will feel a steeper tax for failing the missions this time as oppose to other GTA releases. You will probably notice that the camera angles still have the same defects as other GTA releases; the camera is still sketchy when it comes to high speed chases and timed missions.

Detailed Storyline

Despite all of the mentioned set backs of The Ballad of Gay Tony, it still manages to be a great game and posses great characters. The storyline, unlike that of GTA4, has a lot more sense of humor. This is typical GTA style, as they strayed away from this theme in the last 2 releases. Although "Gay Tony" is portrayed as a gay man, it doesn't overshadow and take over the story line. In reality the storyline is more based on his partner in crime Luiz Lopez. Taking a break in doing missions, you can also do side missions such as collect money in speed boat races and drug wars, both of these will keep your attention for hours on end. There will be times when you want to haul your controller across the room due to mission frustrations, however; there will also be times when you can't take you eyes off the screen and away from the heart stopping action! I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of previous GTA release such as Vice City, San Andreas as well as Liberty City Stories.
