Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan's Nightlife Guide

Allendale, Michigan's Grand Valley State University has been rated among the top institutions in the United States by numerous review boards. However, you won't find much nightlife without traveling westward to the neighboring city of Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids is host to several well-known and successful nightclubs and bars such as The Bob, McFadden's, The Black Rose, and Margarita Grille. If you aren't able to make the 20 minute drive downtown, you can try Main Street Grille or Peppino's located a couple minutes east of the Allendale campus.

Downtown Grand Rapids

Downtown Grand Rapids is host to the best nightlife in Western Michigan. For this reason, it is worth the time it takes to get there. You will find that each club and bar has a personality of its own. If you like lots of people and dancing and don't mind paying a $5 cover, try McFadden's or Margarita Grille. If you are searching for a more relaxed atmosphere, try The Black Rose where for a $3 cover you can enjoy live music from local bands while still being able to enjoy good conversation with friends over drinks. For a $5 cover, The Bob combines these atmospheres with a combination of nightclubs, bars and restaurants all in one building.

Allendale

As a college student, you may not always have the time or money for a trip downtown. In this case, consider going to Main Street Grille or Peppino's. Most nights, Main Street Grille and Peppino's are filled primarily with Grand Valley State University students. This makes for an excellent excuse to bump into that guy or girl you have been eyeing in your anatomy class. With no cover, you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with music and karaoke over drinks with other students.
