Grandma

T. L. Cooper

I think of you with love

And I smile

When I cook I remember

Your table filled with everyone's favorites

Quiet afternoons remind me of

Your home filled with unexpected guests

Immediately welcomed

I recall with fondness

Sunday afternoons at your house filled with

Family, friends, neighbors

Playing cards, eating, laughing

Your never idle hands

Inspired me to try new things

The way you listen without judging

The encouragement and kinds words you give so freely

Showed me how to care

Even today

When I wrap myself in the quilt

You made me

It feels like you're hugging me

And my heart fills with appreciation

That I have a grandma like you!
