I have just a few questions for you, grandma, if I may
Grandma, you're getting very old, old as can be
When I brush your hair, there's some grey that I can see
Tell me, grandma, have you ever been as young as me?
Can you imagine, grandson, Grandma, was as young as you?
I was a little baby too, not kidding you, grandson, it's true
I sure can't imagine you ever being a little baby. Another question...
Grandma, way back when you were young and you went outside to play
Did the sun come out; did it brighten up your day?
The sun and the moon and the stars; the sky and the clouds that you see
They were all the same and they were all right there for me
Oh, yeah, grandma, when you were little, did you have a lap top; did you have a color TV?
Got me there, grandson, TV was black and white; no computers in my house
I must live a mile, sometimes, you walk all the way to my house and back home, all alone
My friend said; he didn't know old people could walk that far, how do you do it?
Well, Ryan, if we're in good health; old people like me can do lots of things
walking and exercise are very good for my old bones.
And, grandma, if I count by ones, it takes a long time to count to your age
Just wondering, how did you get to be so old? Still hard to believe you were once young like me.
Well, it's like this, grandson, by the grace of God, I kept waking up every morning
Many years went by; and I became the old granny that you now see
Come Monday morning, March 31st, on that date
I will be waking up to a wonderful ripe old age of sixty eight
Grandma, that's Old! You can sure do a lot of things for an old person. And you're still a lot of fun.
AC, I will be 68 years old on march 31
I've been married for 42 years
I'm the proud mother of five; 3 boys and 2 girls; all grown-up
I have nine grandchildren
8 year old Ryan is the youngest.
The oldest is a 21 years old young man
I have 5 granddaughters and 4 grandsons
and they all live within 5 miles of my house,
except the four that live with me; I was their
grandmother and legal guardian since 1993

Post a CommentAlyce, the wrinkles passed me by, at least for now. I have so few gray hair it doesn't show. I think it's inherited.
Way missed your birthday! Great photo; love the outfit and you hardly look a day over 50. Where are the wrinkles?
I missed your birthday, happy belated birthday. I love this article, it is so well written that I could see that little boy and you talking. Great photo!
Thanks to everyone for your wonderful comments and Happy Birthday wishes. I am kept so busy with the grandchildren, going to activities such as (band concerts, vollyball games, track meets), and writing online and taking care of the house; I don't have time to feel like an old lady. My grown nephew (teasingly) told me that I have to slow down. He said I makes him nervous because I moves around much too fast for an old lady that had a hip replacement four years ago. I was hit by a small car while standing in a lunch line at work years ago; it knocked my hip out of whack. I ended up having to get that hip replaced years later. I almost didn't put my picture up with the poem, because the camera hates me and I have allergy eyes. I usually don't take pictures. Anyway; thanks for all the lovely and wonderful comments.
