Writer M J Joachim
In an effort to reach out to the local community and help those in need, local business owner of Grandma's Lullaby Loft, Cheryl Matza, will be hosting a gift drive to benefit Maggie's Place. Maggie's Place is a Phoenix charity that helps pregnant women and new moms who are facing hard times for a variety of reasons. Grandma's Lullaby Loft is located at 5943 E. McKellips Road, Mesa, Arizona on the southwest corner of Recker and McKellips Road. Grandma's Lullaby Loft Gift Drive will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2011 between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm.

Maggie's Place
was founded in 2000 by five women who noticed a need in their community; they chose to join forces with other community members to help those less fortunate than themselves. These women were recent college graduates, and they had individual dreams to pursue. However, based on the desire to help those in need and promote an agenda for social justice in their neighborhood, they decided to answer the call to help pregnant mothers who had fallen on hard times. In the process, Maggie's Place, a home that offers support, services and family to women about to bring new children into the world, gives new mothers a chance to make a better life for themselves. The support Maggie's Place provides helps new moms avoid falling into traps of desperation from current circumstances in their lives. It provides an opportunity for neighbors to join forces as one family, united for a common cause to protect our society through selfless service and support, for future generations.

Such an idealistic dream hardly goes unnoticed, and Phoenix, Arizona is not the only place in need of a home that helps destitute and struggling mothers. Sadly, there are many women in American society who for whatever reason find themselves in desperate situations. Fortunately, there are people willing to promote the efforts of Maggie's Place in a variety of ways. Because of this, Maggie's Place has been able to expand and thrive. Since its conception, Maggie's Place has grown from one home located in Phoenix, Arizona to five homes: four are located throughout the greater Phoenix area and one is established in Cleveland, Ohio. Maggie's Place offers a loving family environment to pregnant women and their newborn children. It gives them a peaceful alternative to the harsh reality of their broken worlds.

Grandma's Lullaby Loft specializes in unique baby gift items, including a large variety of wooden puzzles and games, handmade afghans, bibs, hair bows and bonnets. They also have an extensive selection of baby clothes and Christening outfits, as well as cribs and baby furniture. Maggie's Place will benefit from all of these things, but they also need diapers, formula, maternity clothes, nursing bras and services for mothers-to-be and new moms. Simple things like haircuts and manicures will go a long way to boosts their morale. Dental care, childcare services, job referrals and educational opportunities are great ways to help these women and their newborn babies.

Times are tough, so it seems particularly special that a small business like Grandma's Lullaby Loft would extend a helping hand to those who can benefit from the community around her. If you would like to help Cheryl with her efforts to give as many gifts as possible to Maggie's Place, stop by Grandma's Lullaby Loft on or before June 18 with your gift.
