Every time you lie
your tongue turns white
or so grandma says.
Every time you tell a tall tale
your nose grows
or so it goes by what grandma says.
Every time you leave some truth out
you learn what punishment is all about
or so grandma makes absolutely sure you do.
But what happens when you tell the truth?
Do you get milk and cookies
or hugs and kisses?
No. But grandma smiles and praises
and that seems to be the Utopia of reward
or so it seems looking back
now that grandmas gone and passed away.
I love grandma for her wise little white tall tales.
But...why did she have to be punished?
