Grandpa

My Friend

Leeann Gatten
Here and there and every where

I hear I see and smell

This, they bring.

The weather all kinds.

Take me back to different times.

When my friend and me

Would sit and see

All that nature was to be.

Of fishing tales, and

Political lies,

All bigger than the last.

But now it is only in my memory

His wisdom walks and lasts.

When I turned and walked away.

In my sleep,

Is were this plays

Never changing or going away.

Is this how he tells me,

It's my fault he went away.

These memories, a sleep or a wake

I will take.

No matter the price

Or the stake,

It is a small price to pay.

To have my

Papa back

I'll take him anyway.

I aspire to write, yet never have the time. When I do write I forget to place it on the jump drive and I get a trojan and then I have to wipe out everything. I do more data entering than actual writing.  View profile
