Grants for Hispanics

Carl Evangelista
There are grants available in the U.S. for a wide and vast array of the population; this array includes fields of specialty, different religious backgrounds, different income brackets, and different ethnic groups...the Hispanic population not excluded.

The grants targeted for Hispanics further branch out to programs for women, men, workers, and, of course, students. A wonderful resource for students with Hispanic descent is the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF).

The largest provider of financial aid, educationally speaking, the HSF is dedicated to the support of higher education within the Hispanic community. This organization is as determined as the students they provide funds for in achieving their educational goals.

In order to be eligible for a HSF financial aid, the student must:

Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average

Be a U.S. citizen OR a legal permanent resident in possession of a permanent resident card or I-551 stamped passport

Be pursuing, or plan to pursue, a first undergraduate or graduate degree

Apply for Federal financial aid using the FAFSA

Plan to enroll full-time as an undergraduate or graduate degree seeking program at a U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam in the upcoming academic year.

There may be further restrictions or requirements, depending upon which grant program is most applicable to the student. To view detailed information on the different programs offered by the HSF, follow this link to HSF Scholars.
