Cross Timbers Winery is just one of the many in town and is located in one of the oldest building in Grapevine, the Dorris/Brock house, reported to have been built 1874. This facility offers many wines from Blushes to Cabernet Sauvignons. They also offer rental facilities for special occasions such as weddings or corporate outings. The old barn has been reconstructed on its original site in order to house these events and can hold up to 200 guests. Visit this location, not only for the wine, but for the beautifully refurbished historical home.
Su Vino Winery, located in historic downtown Grapevine, was established in 2003 and is know as the first custom winery in Texas. Having won over 50 medals for their wonderful wines, they also will help you in customizing a wine to your tastes and they even let you help make it! You can also rent their tasting rooms for special events and an event planner can help you make it special with the perfect wine. You can also attend one of their educational wine tastings so that even if you are the least experienced wine drinker, you can come away with a new found knowledge and appreciation of wines.
Homestead Winery, located off of Main Street, can boost of being the oldest continually operated winery in North Texas. Its vineyards are in Ivanhoe, just about an hour north of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. This winery is a tasting facility only but is situated in a beautiful historic Victorian home that dates back to the 1870's. Their wines include a Homestead Red that has a hint of plums, a Sweet Home Ivanhoe that is a sweet, fruity white wine and the Ivanhoe Celebration, a sparkling specialty wine.
The Delaney Vineyard, located just outside of town on Champagne Blvd, has 10 acres of vineyards on site and grows the Cythinana grape. An 8000 square foot winery, built to resemble a French chateau sits in the middle of the vineyard. Not only known for its wines, it is a beautiful venue that can host small private parties to grand scale weddings and special events. Each room of the facility has its own unique atmosphere to transport you to a place other than North Texas. Free public tours are held Monday thru Saturday each hour and the tastings, which cost $10, are held each half hour.
This list is just a sampling of the great wineries that call Grapevine home. I encourage you to visit this historic North Texas town and walk its streets and enjoy the many unique shops that this great little town has to offer.
