Grateful Heart

Jill Davidson

I didn't know what love was
Until I met the Son:
A deep and wondrous feeling
I must share with everyone.

I didn't know what joy was
Until He filled my heart:
True happiness that lives within
And sets the world apart.

I didn't know what peace was
Until He stilled my soul.
I gave to Him a shattered life
And He has made it whole.

I didn't know of mercy
Until I received from Him
Great measures of forgiveness
For all the times I've sinned.

I didn't have much patience
He taught me how to wait,
As He had waited for me
Beside the narrow gate.

For all these gifts I'm grateful
To the One who dwells within
And keeps me on the narrow path,
Someday to dwell with Him.

I really hope that your poems get published somewhere other than AC because they are very good and I enjoy sharing them with others.
