Gratitude for Tomorrow

Tussy
Thanksgiving Day is a joyous celebration in America. A time of family gatherings and holiday meals. A time for carving turkeys, stuffings and pumpkin pies. A time for holiday parades. A time for stories of Pilgrims and the First Thanksgiving celebration. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November, this year it falls on the 27th.

For us who are not Americans, what we know of Thanksgiving, we have only learned from reading. Yet, there is one thing we know from the womb, which we carry with us to the tomb, that is how to offer thanks to God. This we do, not only on a special day, once a year, but daily, all year round.

Below is one of the many attempts, by the author, at poetically expressing her thanks to God:

Thank God for Tomorrow

I

As we continue on our way...

towards the end of life's journey...

Before we forever slumber...

let us endeavor to remember...

II

The people whom we've seen...

the places we have been...

The wishes granted us...

life's little must do tasks...

III

Thank God for the past...

that its sorrows never last...

Thank God for the present...

the joys in every moment...

IV

Thank God for the future...

His presence makes it secure...

Thank God for tomorrow...

the time that we borrow...
