Gray and Blue

April Higney
Between the gray and the blue,
she pushes through,
blending, fading, mind-swept,
chilling sweat,
as another vision passes into the view,
in a fog lift, walking along an old street,
in the rain, two hearts skip a beat.
They dance along in the night,
but yet another vision,
a saddened sight,
to the forgotten an old,
sitting along a wooden park bench,
lost, reads within the lines on her face,
the birds flutter through the light in her eye,
for the time when she will fly.
She wonders, a curse or gift,
tunneling deep the thought,
from pain to comfort sought,
tearful transitions to happiness lift.
Between the gray and the blue,
she pushes through,
blending, fading, mind-swept,
chilling sweat,
as another vision passes into the view,
a child playing, laughing out loud in the sun,
but yet another vision,
and tears fall from her eyes,
a woman with her head in her hands,
the pain from a loss, she feels the shudder of her cries.
She wonders, a curse or gift,
tunneling deep the thought,
from pain to comfort sought.,
tearful transitions to happiness lift.
Between the gray and the blue,
she pushes through,
blending, fading, mind-swept,
chilling sweat,
as she tries to hold the vision in the light,
where two hearts skip a beat,
dancing along in the night.

A dichotomy of emotions. Hope and hopelessness. So poignant April. Just beautiful
