Gray Intentions

Allison Karavite
Songs of desparate hours whirl in spiralled winds of chill,

distant as you imagine me to be

when I don't want to be imagined at all.

Tired and worn, where once was comfort

Only specks of gray in my recollection-

faces of lovers gone snarled in distortion

metamorphosis or just the years

painted an ugliness between the lines
