Grease the Musical is Broadway Bound

I have just come from a wonderful production of the musical Grease. It was very entertaining and fabulously done. The production was put on by the Broadway Bound Youth Musical Theatre Company. The production was held at the Country Playhouse located in Houston, Texas. The cast was engaging and the music was exceptional. The thing that must not go unnoticed is this cast was made up of children and teenagers. The youngest be 6 years old. I thought the production was very professionally done. There was audience interaction and everyone was one the edge of their seats waiting for the next scene. The sets and costumes where wonderful and bright. Let me tell you I could see lots of up and coming Broadway talent in this cast.

For me there was one bright shining star, her name is Katie Grothaus who played Sandy. Katie is a multi-talented singer, actress, dancer and model. She has performed in pageants, dance competitions, and other events all over the United States. Katie has won numerous awards in pageants and vocal competitions. She was the perfect Sandy. Her voice clear and bright.

Broadway Bound Youth Musical Theatre Company has done wonderful productions in the past. Just to name a few, The Music Man (2001), Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat (2003), West Side Story (2004), Cabaret and Once One This Island (both in 2006). Broadway Bound Youth Musical Theatre Company is run by Monroe Moore, Executive Artistic Director/Producer. Mr. Moore is a award winning director, choreographer, and a proud member of AEA Actors Equity Association, is one of the in demand names on the professional & summer stock theatre front. Mr. Moore has directed and/or choreographed over 65 productions in the professional, regional, community, and educational theatre realm. Visit www.bbymt.com to see a complete list of his accomplishments. I would have to believe that this productions success lies with Mr. Moore and his Music Director, Becky Lou Ruiz. From what I could see he also has wonderful staff. Broadway Bound provides comprehensive and structured multi-cultural musical theatre/theatre opportunities to children and teens ages five though eighteen, regardless of age, gender, religion, physical limitations, economic status or ethnic background. This truly is a wonderful thing for children of all ages. They encourage creativity, personal development, originality, confidence, team building, performance skills, and a sense of pride through achieving a quality finished product.
Broadway Bound Youth Musical Theatre Company should be very proud of this production. Brava! Kudos to the entire cast. Job very well done!
